Plus, Square Enix created that whole ship sailing mechanic for Kingdom Hearts III’s Pirates of the Caribbean level. I’m guessing they don’t get The Rock to do Maui’s voice, though. It’s another recent Disney hit, and both Moana and the demigod Maui could make for fun party members. Moana is also likely due for some Kingdom Hearts representation. Plus Bruno can make an appearance and then we can all proceed to not talk about him. But her sisters, the super-strong Luisa and the plant-controlling Isabela, could join Sora and friends in the world’s battles. Granted, Maribel may not make for an exciting party member, as I can’t imagine she has any combat capabilities. Maybe Encanto’s large family will remind Sora to check in on his mom. Kingdom Hearts IV is likely to do the same, so I’m betting that Encanto gets a world. Kingdom Hearts III included a lot of modern Disney hits like Frozen and Big Hero 6. It hasn’t appeared in the movies yet, but characters have mentioned the place.Īlso, Thor comes with Loki, one of Disney’s best Marvel characters and one that will work well for a boss fight. Oh, and let’s not forget that Thor’s mythology includes its own afterlife, Hel. ![]() Like Sora, Thor has access to an arrangement of strength and magic-based abilities. He’ll also make for a great party member. Unlike the other core Avengers, most of which are no longer part of current Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor is alive, well, and continuing to star in new movies. It’s just a matter of guessing which one. ![]() Kingdom Hearts IV is almost certainly going to have a Marvel world. Coco is a beautiful films, and it would make for a beautiful Kingdom Hearts level.Ĭoco‘s colorful Land of the Dead would make for a dazzling Kingdom Hearts location, and it’ll be fun to see Sora, Donald, and Goofy given the skeleton makeover. ![]() After Kingdom Hearts III introduced Pixar levels for the first time, I’m sure we’ll see more worlds from that studio’s works in the sequels. Coco is arguably Pixar’s best film in the last decade. Well, if we’re already going to one afterlife, it sure would make sense to include Coco, Pixar’s animated film that takes place largely in the Mexican Land of the Dead. Donald and Goofy even go looking for Hades from Hercules to get his help to find their lost pal. We don’t know much about Kingdom Hearts IV, but we do know that Sora is stuck in a sort of afterlife. In 2002, the idea of a Star Wars level in Kingdom Hearts would have sounded like the most far-fetched kind of pipe dream. Plus you have those adorable Ewoks running around, plenty of Stormtroopers to attack, and Darth Vader even comes down to the moon for a time. It’s one of the few times in the original trilogy that our main heroes are all adventuring together while Luke is a Jedi. The forest moon of Endor also makes sense for a setting. And I can’t imagine Disney would say no, given the success of Kingdom Hearts III and its willingness to throw Star Wars and Marvel at any multimedia project imaginable. ![]() I can’t imagine that series director Tetsuya Nomura would want to make a Kingdom Hearts IV if he wasn’t able to secure those franchises. April 10, 2022Įven during the buildup to Kingdom Hearts III, many wondered and hoped that Star Wars and Marvel would make appearances. Now then, let’s get to those predictions. As much as I want worlds from The Rocketeer, National Treasure, The Muppets, and Alien, I don’t think they’re likely (although a Great Gonzo summon would rule). I’m also guessing seven worlds, since that’s how many Disney stages we had in Kingdom Hearts III. Josh Mings, Director of Marketing, Luxion: Luxion works closely with NVIDIA and OEMs like Dell so KeyShot is ready to run 'out of the box' on desktop or mobile workstations across a range of budgets. (For example, you can see recommendations for SOLIDWORKS and Ansys Discovery in our previous coverage.)Īre there any common challenges or mistakes you see customers making when it comes to hardware configuration and running the software? Since most of our readers are also using other types of design and simulation software, the requirements of those tools would also play a role in optimal workstation configurations. ![]() We went directly to the experts at Luxion to discuss workstation configuration considerations when it comes to deploying KeyShot 10. Available for both real-time rendering and local render output, KeyShot’s GPU Mode allows GPU resources to be accessed with one-click to take advantage of multi-GPU performance scaling and the dedicated ray tracing acceleration hardware in NVIDIA RTX-capable GPUs. KeyShot has the ability to harness the full GPU-accelerated ray tracing power of NVIDIA RTX with OptiX. The CPU denoiser in KeyShot also requires SSE4.1. The KeyShot CPU renderer utilizes all available CPU cores, so the more cores, the faster the rendering times. Internet connection (to activate product). In general, Luxion recommends the following configuration: Novo PLM, another reseller, specifies workstations with 2GB of RAM, 2GB of disk space, a dual-core CPU, an Intel 64-bit processor with SSE4.1 or higher, with at least an NVIDIA Quadro RTX 4000 GPU. Those include models with Intel i7 8850H (6 cores), Intel i9 7940X (14 cores), Intel Xeon Gold 6154 (36 cores), i9 900K (8 cores), and i9 9980HK (8 cores) processors, as well as NVIDIA(R) Quadro RTX(™) 4000 GPUs. Reseller and consultancy 3HTi, for example, recommends several workstations with a range of features and price points for KeyShot. ![]() Processors like the Intel i7, i9, and Xeon Gold families can help optimize performance of KeyShot. But with recent advances in GPU-based rendering and introduction of dedicated ray-tracing circuits such as the RT cores in NVIDIA RTX, GPUs play an increasingly important role in workstation selection. Traditional CPU rendering, unlike a lot of basic CAD workflows, is deeply multi-threaded and will directly benefit from a higher CPU core count. In the interview below, Luxion provides further guidance on workstation requirements for the software. ![]() Optimizing the performance of KeyShot requires more than just a fast GPU, however. In March, we spoke to Luxion Co-founder and Chief Scientist Henrik Wann Jensen about the shift to GPU compute resources could benefit our engineering audience. GPU-accelerated ray tracing raised the bar for rendering performance when Luxion announced it would support the technology in its KeyShot solution in 2018. ![]() There’s also a buzz in the air as diners chat and sample dishes from different restaurants.Īside from the dining experience, there’s also a charitable aspect to Magical Dining. First, visit SCP Toolkit’s developer’s repository (Nefarius) on GitHub or just click HERE to go to the website to download the application. ScpToolkit is an application that helps you use PlayStation 3 or 4 controllers seamlessly on a PC, making them act like an Xbox controller. It further helped that the controller was accepted to be used on the Steam platform by the Valve Corporation, however, you might still face compatibility issues if you want to use the controller on games that run outside the above services. There is a partial exception for the PS 4 controller (DualShock 4) since it connects via the Sony Wireless adapter that supports the service of Remote Play and PlayStation Now. The PlayStation 3 or 4 controllers are not compatible to work on Windows with official drivers from its makers, Sony. For PlayStation owners who want to connect their controller to a PC, on the other hand, the connection is not quite as seamless as other third-party applications (SCP toolkit) are required for its use. The new Xbox one version, the Xbox One S has built-in Bluetooth support for the wireless connection on Windows 10. You can also play wirelessly with the Xbox 360 wireless gaming receiver. Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners are able to seamlessly connect their controllers on a Windows run PC by just using a USB cord and installing the necessary drivers since both products are made by Microsoft. Thankfully, in recent time, there is a way to connect these controllers to the PC with the use of the SCP toolkit as stated above. When the use of gamepad and joypad displaced that argument, the discussion was still that either an X-box 360 or PlayStation 3 or 4 controller was much better to use to play a game. In the past, Console gamers made the ultimate argument that the use of the mouse and keyboard as the standard input devices for controlling PC games was what ruined the game playing experience on a PC, regardless of any other reason. In regards to this topic, however, we will be looking only into the gaming experience and use of game controllers on PC with the SCP toolkit. While this argument will take much of our time if we decide to get into it, it must be said that both options are both rewarding since the most important thing in question here is to actually play. The arguments usually revolve around which one is less expensive, has better visuals and graphics, or has the best multiplayer competition, and most importantly, the best gaming experience. I’m 6 feet tall and had no complaints with front- or rear-seat roominess. ![]() Compared to other small Chevys, this is an interesting package because the Trax actually has more listed overall interior volume than the brand’s subcompact Trailblazer SUV, which is more expensive 99.8 cubic feet for the Trax versus 98.2 cubic feet for the Trailblazer. Its overall height is also 4 inches lower than before, which helps give it a low, long look. The new Trax is nearly a foot longer and 2 inches wider than the previous generation. And even with the Activ’s 18-inch wheels, the ride harshness and impacts over broken pavement weren’t bad during my quick spin, though a more demanding test would be the cratered highways in the Chicago suburbs where we normally test. The new footprint helps the Trax drive like a more substantial car than its budget price suggests, with confident road holding and stability at highway speeds. The Trax has a longer wheelbase (the distance between the front and rear wheels) than the old model, which can help ride quality, and a wider track (the distance between the right and left wheels) for improved handling. We’ll have to spend more time with the Trax to get an idea of its real-world fuel economy. The downside of the six-speed might be in fuel economy because while the new Trax’s 30-mpg combined gas mileage rating is improved versus the old one’s 27 mpg rating, it’s less than a Nissan Kicks (33 mpg), front-wheel-drive Toyota Corolla Cross (32 mpg) or Hyundai Venue (31 mpg). I prefer this experience to the sluggish responsiveness and screaming engine noise that comes with many affordable cars that use a continuously variable automatic transmission. ![]() How it gets there is slightly different than the class, however, because the drivability of the engine and transmission is more pleasant thanks to the traditional six-speed automatic that makes crisp upshifts and eager downshifts to get the car moving. Anything that surprises in this price range is notable when cars like the Hyundai Venue, Honda HR-V, Toyota Corolla Cross or Nissan Kicks don’t have much happening under the hood. But given the smaller power number on paper, I was surprised by how punchy it actually was around town. The new engine dishes out an initial punch before it runs out of steam around 45 mph, so while good for around town, there’s not much going on if you need to call upon the engine for highway maneuvers. The Trax’s only engine and transmission is a 137-horsepower, turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder and six-speed automatic, which strangely is less powerful than the outgoing Trax’s 155-hp engine. The Trax no longer offers all-wheel drive, so it has technically lost its SUV designation in our classifications, but call the line officially blurred because by all other SUV measures, including ride height, seating position and cargo versatility, the Trax is similar to other small utility vehicles. ![]() Related: 2024 Chevrolet Trax: Burgeoning Space, Tech Shrinking Price, HP How It Accelerates ![]() When the average new car transaction price is around $45,000, this is impressive, but does it drive like a cheap car? It’s also less expensive than its predecessor last seen as a 2022 model. This is notable because the Trax has been completely redesigned for 2024, is significantly larger and has more technology. With a starting price just over $21,000 with destination charge, the 2024 Chevrolet Trax is one of the top 10 least expensive new cars out there. to help Supreme Court Justices decide which map is the best. This quantification places redistricting squarely in the mathematical realm, particularly within the domain of mathematical optimization. There is, however, a bright spot: map performance can be quantified. Numerical scores can be attached to all map criteria - contiguity, federal law compliance, compactness, proportionality, competitiveness, etc. Computer algorithms should draw Wisconsin redistricting maps ![]() If the court decides to discard the current map, it will face the daunting challenge of identifying a good replacement. Wisconsin has more than 200,000 census blocks, each needing to be assigned to an Assembly and Senate district, with the goal of achieving an optimal balance among numerous features that define a good, fair map. The petitions argue that the current map, drawn by Republicans, should be replaced with a new, fairer map that is just and equitable to Democrats and Republicans. The key to fairness is proportional representation: the percentage of districts represented by each party should reflect the percentage of the total vote cast for each party in recent statewide elections. ![]() The Wisconsin Supreme Court has received two petitions calling for the redrawing of the state's legislative map, claiming it is extremely unfair to Democrats. Both petitions observe that despite the near 50-50 split in the statewide vote in recent elections, Republicans have represented about two-thirds of the districts in the Assembly and Senate for more than a decade. ![]() Vaibhav, too, has a decent screen presence and owns his part convincingly. A regular face in his role would’ve made it very predictable but Venkat makes it realistic. ![]() Venkat Prabhu, a popular filmmaker, gets his act pretty convincingly as the cop with some secrets. Even though her character could’ve been written better, it was comforting to see her get some spotlight in an otherwise male-dominated police stories. In a refreshing departure from her usual screen avatar as mother, Eswari Rao shines in the role of the investigating officer. The film manages to give us a closer look at police conspiracy and how it affects common people who become helpless and voiceless. As a dialogue in the film goes, it’s tough to differentiate between a good and bad cop. Almost every officer is ready to do anything for a promotion, and they don’t care how dirty things get in the process. This is a thriller that’s built on police conspiracy. As she starts investigating the case, we are introduced to the local inspector Murthy ( Venkat Prabhu) and his subordinate Vasanth (Vaibhav). Eswari suspects that there could be a connection between the murder of the inspector and Shamna’s suicide. It opens with a phone call from a police commissioner, who assigns Eswari Rao to take charge of a case in which a police inspector is killed and a woman (played by Shamna) dies by suicide. The film doesn’t waste any time in developing its world and introducing us to its characters. This not only benefits our patients but is an essential resource for ourselves. The key takeaway is that our education, training, and work environment may not foster and support our natural compassion, but we can intentionally train to bring this essential quality forward. Singer suggests that if people can learn to be compassionate, as opposed to empathetic, this could help stave off problems like burnout.įor the past decade I've been working on cultivating this state first within myself, and then in the other physicians I've supported, particularly those who were experiencing emotional burnout through their work in the pandemic. Halifax wrote that the experiment showed that we can train ourselves to switch into a "warm positive state coupled with a strong desire to be of service," and that different areas of the brain light up when we are suffering with others than they do when we switch into a compassionate state. Empathy is where we become immersed in the pain and suffering of another and feel it as though it is our own.Ĭompassion has a different tone, and the studies show how it lights up different areas of the brain. Much of what we think of as compassion is actually empathy. The studies outlined the difference between empathy and compassion. In her book, Standing at the Edge, Roshi Joan Halifax, PhD, shared an experiment conducted under the guidance of neuroscientist Tania Singer, PhD, and her team at the Max Planck Institute in Germany. from The Hill: Instead, we bumbled our way into giving a company the power to. from Vice: Don't pledge another bumbled blitzkrieg to jam through a measure of that magnitude. Perhaps one of the biggest learnings that came out of my studies in the past 10 years is this: Most of us have heard of compassion fatigue, but true compassion is actually not fatigable. Now, she 'bumbled' about the room, Leahy says, incoherent and vacant.
